#HomeTasking

#HomeTasking is a series of online Taskmaster tasks posed by Alex Horne. Beginning in March 2020, the games were inspired by the 2019 coronavirus pandemic and medical advice on social distancing (which in some countries meant that people were advised or made to stay indoors for a period of weeks/months).

The tasks were published on Monday and Wednesday at 9am GMT/BST for the first seven weeks (though the first week included a task set on the Friday, with a brief 6-hour deadline), before being reduced to just one task a week, announced every Wednesday. Responses were mostly sent via Twitter, and a selection were included in a YouTube compilation video (including ten responses which earned between 1 and 10 points).

The original run of #HomeTasking concluded on 17 June 2020 with the posting of the final montage for Task #20, after which it was put on hiatus (due to the loosening of the governmental lockdown).

Across the first run of #HomeTasking, 165 different Twitter handles achieved top ten finishes. The series champions were @PayneTrain_MI, with a grand total of 41 points from 5 tasks. @BenBackflip (now known by the handle @AO_Movement), as well as being series runner-up, also takes the honour of most top ten appearances, with points being awarded for 7 different tasks.

HomeTasking returned for a one-off Halloween special, with the task being announced at 8am GMT on Sunday 25th October 2020. After this - and due to a third national UK lockdown, #HomeTasking returned for a second series. For this series, #HomeTaskers were not given new tasks, but instead given tasks that had previously featured in the Taskmaster television show (to see if they could be improved upon).

The first task was launched on 14 January 2021 at 12pm GMT, and concluded after eight weeks of tasks - at one task per week - with the last four tasks offering a £50 voucher for the online Taskmaster store. Despite the compilation videos for Series 2 not including any points given to the top ten entries, the table on this page for this second run is collated from the scoring system used for Series 1.

The overall winner of Series 2 of #HomeTasking was @jakelotusmusic, with a total of 31 points over four tasks. Series 2 runner-up @WizzyKatie holds the distinction of most consecutive top ten finishes at four (including two gold medals.) Across Series 2, a total of 55 different Twitter handles achieved top ten finishes.
